And the accolades just keep on coming….
Bjarke Ingels Group and The Durst Organization have been named one of four finalists in the housing category of ULI New York’s 2017 Awards for Excellence in Development for their creation of Via 57 West. The program is designed to honor those real estate development projects that lead the way in creating sustainable thriving communities and responsible use of land.
The winner will be announced at the 2nd Annual award ceremony on April 3, 2017 at Gotham Hall in New York City. The other 3 finalists in the housing category include nArchitects and Monadnock Development for Carmel Place, Alexander Gorlin Architects and Breaking Ground HDFC for Breaking Ground/Boston Road Permanent Supportive Housing, & Dunn Development Corp., L+M Development Partners, Inc., IMPACCT Brooklyn, FXFOWLE Architects, Curtis+Ginsberg Architects, Architecture in Formation, Rader+Crews Landscape Architecture for Navy Green in Brooklyn.
ULI New York spent “Five Minutes With” Kai-Uwe Bergmann, Partner and Head of Business Development at Bjarke Ingels Group. In the interview Mr. Bergmann talks about architecture, design, Via 57 West and answers questions like who had the most influence on his career, what is his NON-BIG favorite building in NYC, and what makes him proudest of being a ULI NY awards finalist.
The Durst Organization and BIG put a lot of work into Via 57 West to create an affordable, eco-friendly, luxury residential high-rise in Midtown Manhattan. The 709 apartments for rent near Columbus Circle were designed to minimize the impact the building has on the environment with the installation of an air purifying ventilation system, an on-site water filtration system, the use of energy star appliances, and solar EcoVeil Window shades.
